Who are the CAREs?

The Consent Advocates & Relationship Educators are translators, interpreters, and connectors who serve as liaisons between the Office of Sexual Assault Prevention & Response and their peers at Harvard College.

Through strategic educational advocacy, outreach, and programming, CAREs work to create a campus culture free from the threat or experience of sexual violence for all people. They foster collaborative relationships with organizations and administrative offices to create safer, trauma-informed spaces for survivors and allies, plan culturally-competent health communication campaigns and programs, and conduct peer-to-peer training surrounding consent, healthy relationships, and gender equity. The CAREs complete 40 hours of training through a 12-week curriculum in the Spring and a three-day intensive in August to prepare them with the tools, efficacy, and foundation to facilitate conversations with their peers.
